History

The Trocard family has been a staple in viticulture for four centuries, initially settling in Fronsac and Saint-Émilion in the early 1600s. Their winemaking heritage is documented by old parchments, with the family eventually consolidating in Artigues de Lussac at the end of the 18th century, a place they are still deeply connected to. Jean Trocard witnessed the evolution of agricultural techniques, transitioning from oxen to tractors post-war. In 1976, his son Jean-Louis, along with his wife Elisabeth, assumed control, expanding the vineyard to around a hundred hectares across various appellations, marking a period of significant growth for Vignobles Trocard.

Wine Profile

The origin of wine is the soil. From Saint-Émilion to Pomerol, Vignobles Trocard reveal a wide range of the flagship terroirs of the Bordeaux region. Gently hilly, with plateaux and hillsides, the terroir of Saint-Émilion is topographically eclectic: gravel, clay, limestone and sand shape its soils. On these lands nurtured by a temperate maritime climate, the fruit thrives with crunchy, supple and richly aromatic flavours.Further north, the terroir of Lussac Saint-Émilion has full southern exposure with vines in plateaux or valleys forming an amphitheatre of clay-limestone soils in the south and loamy clay in the north. The wines are elegantly structured and balanced with round but powerful tannins that are enhanced with ageing in the cellar.
